Here we are learning to vermicompost - which means compost with worms. Vermicomposting doesn't smell if you do it correctly, so it's perfect for people who live in apartments, don't have a yard, or would like a composter they can keep indoors during the winter. It's also good fun for curious kids who like to study and take care of living things like Red Wiggler worms.
We had about a dozen people of all ages come drill holes, create worm houses, and adopt hundreds of squirmy pets to help them clean up their kitchen scraps. Even our youngest members are well on their way to becoming handy(wo)men and craftspeople.
It was our first chance to test out the Makerspace as a community workshop. And it worked! Participants are already looking forward to future events. We'd love to hear what you want to create or teach a class on in the Makerspace.
Thank you again to everyone who made this first event so much fun. Great things to come!
